Set in the heart of Cork, this event celebrates the region’s remarkable journey as a global hub for cybersecurity – while looking ahead to the next chapter of innovation, talent, and growth.
Over the past three decades, Cork has quietly established itself as a powerhouse in the cybersecurity landscape, home to a thriving ecosystem of industry leaders, educators, and emerging talent. This event brings that story to life – tracing the evolution of the sector from its early foundations to the dynamic, globally connected industry it is today.
Opening with a keynote from Maggie Cusack, President of Munster Technological University, the programme sets the stage for a day of reflection and forward-thinking dialogue.
As the day unfolds, the focus shifts from past to future, through expert-led panels and industry contributions. The first panel discussion will reflect on the journey of cybersecurity – examining how far the field has come and the milestones that have shaped it. The conversation then turns to what lies ahead, with a second panel discussion focused on the future of cybersecurity, and crucially, how to build and sustain a robust cybersecurity talent pipeline. With demand for skilled professionals continuing to grow, the event places a strong emphasis on education, collaboration, and initiatives that bridge the gap between academia and industry.
The event is timed to coincide with the start of Ireland’s EU Presidency. As a proud contributor to the growing success of Cork’s cyber ecosystem, NetApp also aims to celebrate its partnership with MTU and others in developing Cork-based cyber skills as a practical case study of EU-wide significance. Developing a strong cyber skills base not only supports resilience in digital transformation but also serves as a key driver of Ireland’s and Europe’s future competitiveness.
The story of Cork’s cybersecurity success is further brought to life through a dedicated film showcase, capturing the growth of local companies and their contributions to both industry and education.
The event concludes with interactive sessions designed to engage and inspire from live cyber-attack demonstrations to hands-on workshops- giving attendees a practical glimpse into the skills and thinking required for the future.
More than just a gathering, this is a celebration of Cork’s legacy in cybersecurity and a call to action to shape what comes next.
